Over the weekend of February 14th and 15th, 2009, members of Friends of Allegheny Wilderness and the Butler Outdoor Club hiked through the wild, untrammeled 1,780-acre proposed addition to the Hickory Creek Wilderness Area on the Tanbark Trail, and then off-trail into the existing Hickory Creek Wilderness in Pennsylvania's Allegheny National Forest. A winter wonderland was encountered!
Please contact your U.S. Representative at your earliest possible convenience at http://www.house.gov and ask them to pass a law to permanently protect the proposed addition to Hickory Creek as wilderness under the Wilderness Act of 1964. For more information, please see http://www.pawild.org

Thanks for asking TribeTube! The easiest way people can help get Congress to act to protect wilderness in the ANF is to log on to the Friends of Allegheny Wilderness website (posted in the info on the right-hand margin---->). There you can download a template letter to Congress in Word format that you can edit to reflect your personal views. Address to Congress are provided. The more people who take this action the sooner we can get wilderness designated!

What is the situation on this bill? is it too late to contact representatives? I love the ANF, and will support and promote any bill to enhance its wilderness areas.
