My absolute favorite, the Dog Paddle. There are many different versions of this drill, however this one is by far the best. Position: the swimmer is looking straight down. Arm pull: one hand at a time, slowly, until the arm is straight. Breathing: learn to blow bubbles as you go, breathe in only when you have finished blowing out. No kicking, just a gentle movement of the feet, enough to keep them up just below the surface. Use the Dog paddle with your beginners and intermediate swimmers for great results.
