Times Square Car Bomb: Faisal Shahzad arrested.

Breaking news in the Times Square car bomb failed attack! United States Attorney General Eric Holder announced that a naturalized, U.S. citizen, Faisal Shahzad has been arrested and is in custody. Faisal Shahzad was arrested in the JFK airport as he tried to board a flight and leave for Dubai. Authorities said that Shahzad was living in Connecticut but was originally from Pakistan. It is unclear how long hes been a United States citizen. At this point in the investigation, it is not clear exactly what charges Faisal Shahzad will face.

Eric Holder stated, "It is clear the intent behind this terrorist act was to kill Americans. We will not rest until we bring everyone responsible to justice."

Earlier on Monday, authorities were searching for the person who had purchased a Nissan Pathfinder. The vehicle was used in the failed car bombing attempt. During the press conference, Holder stated that Shahzad was the person who purchased the vehicle. The car bomb was detected in Times Square on May 1, 2010. Lance Orton, a street vendor working in the area, saw the car and smoke coming from the vehicle. He told police and the bomb was defused before it could detonate.

Though police tracked down the original owner of the Nissan Pathfinder, Faisal Shahzad did not sign any paperwork. It is unclear how authorities were able to track him down.
It is unknown whether Shahzad was working alone. The investigation continues.
