since so many people asked me for tabs, I tried to make a good tab and after a good fight with the tab-software I figured that it would be nicer and simpler to explain it directly in a video ;-) Congrats if you watch this 'til the end! Greetings from Belgium, fademer

  • so is this in drop d or not? im very confused my acoustic is in standard d tuning for elliott smith songs and i really would rather not tune up to drop d can someone help me here? very good tutorial and cover by the way :)

  • @peacelovemusic2461 hi, it is in drop d indeed. You could play it in standard d tuning, but not with this version obviously. Or else you just downtune your bass string to C and put a capo on 4 ;-)

  • This is great! thank you! The only one thing i would say, that you might already realise, at the end of each verse it sounds like elliott slides from 2 to 4th fret on the D string, instead of a hammer-on. But hey, this is immaterial, you've still made my day with this tutorial!

  • @uberdingdong thanks for your comment! You're certainly right about the slide, I am a perfectionist but maybe not THAT much :-)

  • This song is a little easier to play, IMO, if you don't mess with drop D, and move the capo down a whole step. The chords become much more commonplace.

  • @Ekrindul You are completely right and I am aware of that, i'm even saying that at 0:45 :-)

  • i have try to tab it. i'll send you

  • This is the simple way to play it. Elliott didn't play it this way though. The chord progression is right though.

  • i reckon the version where u dont use the capo at all is better coz u can do that little riff heapz better at the very end of each verse

  • @fademer i think i will put a capo on 4 with my low d to c like you said thanks a ton great tutorial again :)

  • so helpful, so clear, thank you very much. I look forward to covering this song I would have otherwise left alone because of the time it would have taken to learn it.

  • hey man, i've learned it! :)
