Merry Christmas, everyone! :) I guess you could consider this video to be my Christmas present to all my subscribers. I apologize for the lack of uploads. Anyway, this is a popular Christmas carol in Finland and I thought it would fit the season perfectly. I chose Luka to be my soloist, since she's got the softest voice of my Vocaloids. Enjoy! =)

Development history: Lately I have been busy with work and there's been very little energy and motivation left to do anything with Vocaloid. in December, though, I had occasional few hours to spare and I thought I could do a Vocaloid version of a traditional Finnish Christmas song. I decided to make my own arrangement of the song (with lots of influences from other arrangements) and came up with this version that gradually builds up until the end. The arrangement was born on the fly by experimenting and finding out the best sounding solution. Most of the work went on polishing the finer details (as usual) and it was done at Christmas Eve and Day. Actually, the song had been at a roughly completed stage long before that, but it's hard to dig up the motivation to polish the song (intonation, pronunciation, expression). Anyway, the work was far from over after the Vocaloid work was done: I used Garageband to add a gentle reverb to the tracks imported from Vocaloid 2. The music itself was finished, but the video was still to be done. I had had the vision of the video already in my mind and I only needed to materialize it. The video was made almost entirely using Lipsync. In case you've been wondering how to make the program work, you'll need to change the localisation of your computer to Japanese. A lot of time was spent on the video as well (fine-tuning lip movements, adding fade-in/outs and subtitles), but I eventually was able to finish the video. All I had to do anymore was to combine the audio and video together using Windows Live Movie Maker and upload the video on YouTube (and write yet another long description..).

@KalinkaJam I checked Wikisource for the original lyrics and it seems that the Finnish lyrics differ slightly from the original and the last verse in the song deviates completely from the original lyrics.

@Vestu Hienosti vastaan vasta nyt, mutta kuitenkin, paljon kiitoksia kivasta kommentistasi! ^^ Vocaloideille on ihan luotu omat hengitysäänensä. Ne saa, kun jonkin nuotin foneettiseksi symboliksi (niiden hakasulkeiden sisään) kirjoittaa br1, br2, br3, br4 tai br5. Ärrä onkin vähän monimutkaisempi. Esimerkiksi, jos haluan vocaloidin laulavan ra-tavun, teen kaksi nuottia, joista ensimmäinen on lyhyt "pärinänuotti" (esim. 32-osanuotti) ja toinen varsinainen ra-nuotti. Jatkuu...

Siihen "pärinänuottiin" minä sitten ymppään paljon ra-äänteitä peräkkäin, mikä luo r-äänen. Nuotin foneettinen kenttä näyttää suurin piirtein tällaiselta: [4 a 4 a 4 a] Tässä tapauksessa olen siis ympännyt yhteen nuottiin kolme ra-tavua. Toivottavasti sait jotain selvää tästä selostuksestani. :)
