I turn a Harbor freight barrel pump into a general purpose pump. It is a good, cheap and fairly safe way to pump diesel fuel. I shot this video with an older digital 8 Sony camera. I forgot to switch it to auto focus, so sorry about the blurriness.

  • Great idea I wander if it could be used for gas.

  • @ncrdisabled I would not pump gasoline with that setup. Gasoline fumes or very flammable and gasoline produces fumes at very low temperatures so it ain't very safe to play with. Diesel does create fumes, but not much at cooler temps and certainly not as explosive as gas. Gas is made to go boom with a spark! Any spark will turn you into a human torch and get you a ride to the emergency room. Don't even wash parts in it!

  • @beatnic50 Well I guess it is back to the drawing board I was in the NAVY for 7 years in submarines and I only had to help bring on diesel fuel sometimes . We just used hand pumps sometimes I have washed parts in gas before may sure I was way away from any sparks and luck I did not go BOOM! I am 50 so I learned to do those thing from my dad while growing up. I may try it for kerosene.

  • Groovy!
