Anđelko Klobučar (1931):
Pjesma stvorova sv. Franje Asiškoga (1981)
The Hymn of the Creatures by St. Francis of Assisi (1981)
8. Largo
"Neka Te hvali, Bože moj, naša sestra tjelesna SMRT..."
"Praise be to Thee, my Lord, through our sister DEATH of the body..."
This is the 8th movement of The Hymn of Creatures, representative organ piece written by Anđelko Klobučar (1931-), Croatian composer and the principal organist of Zagreb Cathedral.
This 9-movement suite with its programmatic titles inspired with verses by St.Francis of Assisi was written for the celebration of his 800th birth anniversary. It fully exploits the potential of the largest instrument in Croatia, built in 1855 by E. F. Walcker for Zagreb Cathedral. The present live recording was made during the concert that took place at Zagreb Cathedral in November 2010. The organist Pavao Mašić dedicated this programme to Franjo Dugan & Anđelko Klobučar, two most important Croatian composers & principal organists of Zagreb Cathedral, who played regularly on this beautiful historical organ.
