Burning Paper Effect Blender 2.5 and 2.6 Tutorial part 2 of 2

I can (and most of ppl watched this, I guess) follow what u were doing and succeed to make sphere burn, but at the end, to understand nothing.. So whenever I want to make animation (image, whatever) where something is burning, I will have to visit this video.. lack of explaining things, ..

@blendamBa yes this is a Very Big issue in alot of Tutorials on the web and i do know that i dont do the best at teaching how to do such of an advanced effect but as i stated this is my first try at tutorials and i tried my best to explain it.

but just as in school if you dont work on what is being taught you will not learn it.

i honestly didnt know the first thing that made this effect work when i downloaded the demo file so i studied it out until i could do it without looking at the demo file

How would I go about instead of this being a cube its a plane, and its an old yellow piece of paper with my ex gf's name on it. How do I make that paper texture show up and burn
