The CAN BUS Analyzer Tool is a simple-to-use, low-cost CAN Bus monitor that can be used to develop and debug a high-speed CAN network. The tool features a broad range of functions that allow it to be used across various market segments including automotive, industrial, medical, and marine. This tool supports CAN 2.0b and ISO11898-2 and can be connected to a CAN network using the DB9 connector or screw terminal connection. The CAN BUS Analyzer offers expected functionality such as trace, transmit, trace filter and log file capability, but also adds unique features such as ECAN register view and group CAN message transmit. All these features make this a very versatile tool for fast, simple debugging in any high-speed CAN network.

The ECAN/LIN PICtail™ Plus Daughter Board is used with the Explorer 16 Development Board to facilitate rapid implementation and evaluation of applications that use Controller Area Network and Local Interconnect Network interfaces and are implemented on dsPIC33F Digital Signal Controllers and PIC24H 16-bit microcontrollers.

  • The software is buggy and not well supported, but the unit is good for simple and quick tests.

It stops collection for no apparent reason when logging data.

  • @RufusVidS An update for the software and firmware was released at the 2011 Microchip Masters Conference. The update increased the tools throughput and cleaned up various bugs. The source code for this tool will be released in the future for customer modification.
