Hey man thats really cool I actually want to vacuum form an air intake tube for a truck,(the tube that runs from the throttle body to the air box) I'm going to cut the tube in 2 and vacuum form each half and then weld the plastic together. The question i have is what would be the best material to use under the hood of a car, where the temperature is very high? and how can i cut the material very finely to ensure a proper seal when i put the 2 halfs together? Thanks!

Anybody wanting to make their own vacuum former should check out my kitchen vacuum forming video and my web site.
There's a lot of information there that solves problems discussed in this video.
The best place to go for help with vacuum forming and building vacuum formers is the discussion board at tk560. (My site has lots of links to particular stuff over there.)
Also, you may want to get Doug Walsh's classic little book, Do It Yourself Vacuum Forming for the Hobbyist.
