looks crap - so I would say Canon 5D.

Shoedoctor is a clown shoe! Crop factor! What an uneducated tool. Else, this is a 5DII. Final answer.

5d No doubt
I've just seen a RED reel, non comparison at all!
This demo is still video-like, i mean too digital....obviously i'd like to be wrong

@robruffo 7 stops for the 5D? the dynamic range of the 5D is about 12 stops at iso 100. It only drops to 7 stops when you bump the iso up to max at 12,800, and if you're shooting video at that iso zuess help you

@alphamediaproduction thanks for the Iridas Speed Grade and Davinci ;) Can you tell me what kind of video editing programs, are used for making Hollywood movies?

The man is thinking how best to steal your camera.

This better not be the red..

thanks..well we are still speaking of a movie, two movies to be precise. One will be the documentary, with lots of landscapes...the movie with actors will mostly play in Berlin and focussed on the actors..I will check the calculation of my CINE-POST..which system of colour correctors/Colour Grading programs..But since we plan to have the cuts in a studio with a film-cutter not at a Mac at home or so..Since I am not a cutter and for the "big screen"...it should have the best.. cut...:))
Hi alphamediaproduction - that's what my "CINE-POST" has suggested to try out the RED, the ALEXA and may be a third one ...the same scenes to see the differences in the Raw Footage. But please, could you explain -- what is Magic Bullet, New BLUE XF, Davinci , Iridas Speed Grade. I suppose these are patterns of the reworking..?

@weltweitinberlin Those are Color Grading Programs. They are what Gives you that "FILM LOOK" and feel Two of them, Iridas Speed Grade and Davinci Resolve. The other two are wanna be Color Correctors. Youtube them. Difference is price. Davinci Resolve is as low as free or $1000 USD For mac Only, Iridas SpeedGrade is about $40,000 USD. Both do Pretty Much the Same thing as a Different Price.

Hi, thanks a lot for answering! Do you think ALEXA is also okay for a real movie, or do you see no difference in making a documentary film or a movie - as for the qualities of both cameras? Perhaps I can get a "RED" gratuitement as a service of the Cine-POST I will work with...

Alexa Is more about name rather than quality. Bottom line is that at the end of the day its all about your budget and the identical back end work, You can rework almost any Pro Camera to shoot with "Film Like" characteristics. Not talking Magic Bullet or New Blue FX. Rather Davinci or Iridas Speed Grade. Look for Raw footage of both Cameras, Red and Alexa and see what it looks like.. You would be kinda disappointed at what comes out of these cameras.

But after Grading then you see what the Hype is All About. Details in the Highlights and Details in the Shadow. If your aiming for internet video regular 5D MKII, Panasonic AF-100, Sony NEX-FS100U or a Sony PMW-F3L will suite you fine, if your aiming for Prime time or Big Screen then you should know.

The dynamic range of a Red MX is 13.5 stops - using the same high standard (dynamic range is subjective) by the same 3rd party testers the dynamic range of a 5d is 7 stops. stops are exponential - each stop means double as much light - so this difference is not double - it's many many many times more dynamic range.
The 5D is also very low resolution in resolved information - less than 720P so not really HD.

@robruffo . i don't know-all of the technicalities with the 5D mark II but I do dislike it at the moment as a main source of video acquisition, However as a photography camera it does really well. I find that my Sony PMW-EX1R exceeds my expectations. and with some proper framing and zooming can work really well as a Cinema Like Feel.
