Jonathan discovered that the acetone was worthless for removing any of the adhesives that seem permanently attached to the aluminum roof seams and the edge of the opening for the air vent. So he had to go back to the store and find something more powerful. The new stuff is working. He also has some more insight to share about the right tools for the job.

  • check out the 3m roloc disc in green..it will remove that stuff.

  • Acetone creates more problems than it fixes...We use a degreaser / silicone residue remover for auto painting prep...Of course this does not get all of the different types of sealant used on campers...First you must scrape off as much as possilbe and then clean the surface..I use a narrow but thick metal paint scrapper that is sharpened like a razor to scrape..It can be very time consuming especially if patch tape or silicone has been used to seal a camper...
