@stromer24 BECAUSE mainstream had real instruments, GRUNGE exploded in 90s, nobody in rock is taking chances now& creating new genres, & all the little kids are growing up watching gay ass jersey shore & theres no music no MTV. There is no Sponge any longer... Vinnie is picking up side men and doing the odd gig here and there. I know Joey Mazzola (Guitar usually on the left in Vids) is playing with The Detroit Cobras, they'er a sort of throw back to the sixties type group with a good Guitars in Joe and a dam good singer but the music they make is 'Ole Hat. It's a far cry from the Rock Joe "can" play. When one is a Musician sometimes you have to play with who has work and needs you to put Grits on the table. It's SAD...

I saw Sponge at a small venue circa 1997 and the lead singer, Vinnie Dombroski asks the crowd:

Vinnie: "Who likes to..." [then proceeds to tap the inside of his arm]

@GHOSTakaOzz Not sure if you agree but one band who could head up a rock revolution is Clutch. I showed them to my then 15-year old cousin a couple years ago. He used to listen to pop but now plays guitar in a band and listens to everything from Floyd to Sabbath to Rush to Soundgarden to Primus to Tool. I know Clutch is pretty underground and both they and their fans prefer it that way. But everyone I know who hears Clutch gets hooked. They could be the answer! Just saying.
