Robert de Visee: Prelude, A_mi_la_mineur, ms. Saizenay, p. 256. The instrument is "Théorbe de pieces" in d. This piece is marked "A minor" in Saizenay ms. When played by my "théorbe de pieces" in d (a'=392Hz), it sounds like C minor to an ear tuned in modern a'=440Hz. My archlute (Stephen Barber, 1987) is stringed and tuned to a high theorbo. More French theorbo music in page http://www.cs.helsinki.fi/u/wikla/mus/Tiorba/deVisee/. Arto Wikla 19.4.2009.

  • @tzimtzum1618 So long as you might instead say 'swear celibacy before God,' I should think so.

  • Is it wrong to admit that I would kill several small cute animals to have a Lute???

  • Robert De Visee was such a good composer for the theorbo. I loved this. Thanks for playing it, and so beautifully.

  • Wow, fantastic. Really liked this one. Thanks for sharing. --Steve
