Citizen journalism entered a lot of people's consciousness with the images that appeared this week last year around the London tube bombings. Ten days ago the BBC committed that its editors would blog on their editorial policy. Citizens are much more involved in the news process these days.

  • Well, that`s interesting isn`t it Pootom, that he was told not to reply? That is why people ( me included) were upset. I love the BBC and of course, I help pay for it too. The BBC is one of the few supposedly"unbiased" news organisations in the world. Compare that with somewhere like Libya. So its really important that the BBC gets to the truth, especially when police are beating up protesters.

Good luck and well done for standing up for your Dad.

  • it is true ! I`m not targeting your Dad so please don`t take it in the wrong way but I really do care about fairness and bias. I`ll bet that when you`re older you will care too, hopefully. I really don`t want to upset you. Your Dad works in a controvertial area and he will face criticism. I`m sure he`s used to it. Can we please leave this now?

    Cheers

  • in the interview KB agrees that BBC journalists would "open themselves up to questioning on editorial policy in blogs etc". In the Jodie McIntyre story, hundreds and hundreds of people questioned the editorial policy on KB`s blog. He did not respond, at all, at any time. People`s concerns were ignored and closed down. This can`t be right. It is the opposiite of what is said above. The dictionary definition of hypocrisy is "simulation of virtue, insincerity.

  • Yes, you`ve been rude. If you read my comments you`d see that I`ve debated the issues with you and tried to explain. Only to be told that I "know nothing"! It is you who`s been aggressive. I said I respected you standing up for your __. Please don`t tell me I know nothing. You don`t know who I am, how old I am, what I know or what I do. I know you`re related to KB and are 12. I don`t dislike KB or know him. What I really care about is the BBC being unbiased. I`ll keep fighting for that.

  • You know nothing about the world. You are in NO position to to make a judgement. You know nothing about me and what I know. You are behaving like the immature child you obviously are and I would just leave it if I were you. Preferably a few years until you are in a position to make a mature judgement. Boy oh boy you`ve got a lot to learn about the world.

  • And so he should sit in his wheelchair. In this country we have the right to protest. We do not live in a police state ( yet). The Police were most certainly not held to account by BBC News, who fell over themselves to portray the protesters as "trouble makers". This was clear bias and the coverage of this incident led to the highest ever number of complaints. I don`t want to see Police horses charging protesters in my country so good for Jodie for standing his ground. Wait til you`re older!

  • Jodie McIntyre was treated with breathtaking hostility by Ben Brown. The police, on the other hand, were certainly not held to account by the BBC News team, for one of the most shocking displays of brutality seen. That simply can`t be right and, whilst we`re on the topic of bias, being related to someone is bound to lead to further bias unfortunately. I respect you standing up for your __? When you`re older you may see things in a different light. Violent police frighten me. Where were the BBC?

  • I suggest that they would say that wouldn`t they? This interview disgusted many people, not because Jodie is disabled but because it was v biased! It received more complaints than any other story ever covered by BBC news and these complaints were ignored, completely. The BBC`s coverage of the student protests was incredibly biased towards the police and Tory Govt. These people need to be held to account. I admire journalists who challenge the establishment. I wish I had faith "our" BBC to do it.

  • That is, the Jody McIntyre interview. Unbelievable

  • I`ve just watched this interview again and its just as appalling after a 2 month gap.
