My Canon printer provided me with years of reliable service until I purchased a replacement ink cartridge that was non Canon. Three months after installing the black cartridge my printer displayed "Wrong Cartridge" error message. I opened up the printer, removed the ink cartridges, and the print head. The print head had black ink all over it. I tried my best to clean up all the black ink, and then re-installed everything. The printer still displayed "Wrong Cartridge". I then power cycled the printer and when it came online, it appeared to be back to normal. I went to print a test page and then the printer began making sounds. It sounded like it was aligning the print head and the display read "printing". Moments later the printer shut off and no matter what I do, it will not power on again. I had to buy a new printer because the replacement cost for a new print head does not make financial sense when you can buy a printer at Walmart for $60. The bad ink was purchased from (4inkjets)

  • Same happened to me. DIY refiilled the cartridge. All of a sudden I can't turn it on.

  • @iannah2147 I hope people find this video before they make the same mistake we did. I bought a cheap and good printer at Walmart Canon MG5200, it doesn't have a fax function but everything else works well. My other Canon is broken, thanks for the inexpensive printer ink!

  • wow. i was hoping for a great ending because right now i'm dealing with that dreaded message " wrong cartridge ". ) :

  • @julieannemichelle This video caputred the last moments of life for my printer :( I will NEVER NEVER NEVER buy cheap printer ink again! ONLY OEM.

  • had similar issue = no answer

  • @1bobtrade I contacted the company who sent me the bad ink (4inkjets) and after a lot of bs, they ended up sending me $35. It's better than nothing, but their cheap ink broke my Canon Mp780 :( They should have paid for the repair of my old printer.

  • I now have the same problem I did all the same cleaning, unplugging and am looking for a printer head. Any solutions yet?

  • That was pretty depressing for me. We bought it that time at Php15,000 ($350). Its kinda expensive at that time.

  • i was feeling so happy to find your video and yet so sad for you and now possibly for me. i got staples name brand and took it back because i mixed a cannon 3e with the cannon inks and my printer was not happy. i took everything back and replace it with the correct ink and my nightmare begins.

  • EXACTLY same as my experience. 5 years of trouble free use. 3 days after buying aftermarket carts. I get Wrong Cart message. Printer repair guy said nothing can be done - buy a new one.
