An excerpt of a film by Max Tohline, a parody of Koyaanisqatsi, the 1983 experimental masterpiece by Godfrey Reggio, music stolen from Philip Glass (the Vessels movement from the second recording of the soundtrack). Filmed entirely in the boring town of Rolla, Missouri, in April of 2007.

Just listen to what the public is saying: "This is another video by Max. It's a knock-off of the qatsi movies (koyaanisqatsi, powaqqatsi, naqoyqatsi) filmed in Rolla. It is not particularly terrible, but not particularly great." - Robbie Beane, another guy from Rolla.

And somebody I don't even know:

Dylan, I'd love to collaborate, but unfortunately I recently graduated from UMR and will be out of the area for many years (hopefully not forever, though; I actually like Rolla).

  • The opening with the train undulating towards the camera is really beautiful and one of the last sequences(8:33) is a great composition. Thanks, I enjoyed your other video as well.

  • haha, funny as hell

  • Rolla reminds me of Sandusky O, where I grew up; it's about on the same level.

At least we both have trains.

  • LOL! where's rolla?

  • The film was uploaded here first, so probably not. Are you referring to the cropped image or just to the resolution?

  • WELL DONE

  • A parody most worthy of the original.

  • This has got to be the most awesome video on youtube! WOW!

  • no se compara con powaqqatsi

  • Very nice homage! I live a hop and a skip away in Columbia. Nice to see there's some film buffs in other Mid-Mo towns.
