Intel Research Day: Terascale 80-core computer chips

This stuff could be going into PCs in the not-too-distant future. It's not getting a lot of buzz but imagine a world where the OS that runs your document programs only occupies part of the chip, a game-only OS operating another.

The chip is not yet designed for your normal computer set-up. It needs all those cords and a special motherboard to run effectively. So in a way, this is an 80-core CPU, that runs very quickly, but not yet usable to us.

Anyone still remember few years ago, Intel anounce the first 4 cores and it is also the fastest cpu? today, all i can say is LMFAO!

@jakestweeker Some advanced consumer GPUs have as many as 500+ cores of parallel processing. CPUs only do sequential processing so, effectively, GPUs are still more powerful
