MEET KEONE MADRID

Born and raised in San Diego, CA, Keone started his dancing career in the year of 2004 with a group of high school friends. He started his training with KJ Gonzales and Future Shock SD under the direction of Belle and Rainen Paguio of Jabbawockeez. Then furthered on to train with the likes of Formality, Culture Shock San Diego, and various classes with industry choreographers. In the year of 2007 Keone was able to further his choreography passion, by winning a choreographers competition, "Maxt Out", with his friend Vinh Nguyen. He was also given the opportunity of teaching around the world in San Francisco, Los Angeles/Orange County, Washington DC, Canada, London, Finland, and Norway. Also several workshops such as Culture Shock master class, Boogiezone, Funkanometry company class, and many other classes involving various dance studios around the country. Every week Keone also teaches at Studio 429, Culture Shock Dance Center, and Studio FX located in different areas of San Diego. Currently at age 21, Keone dances with Choreo Cookies(Fusion, World of Dance Tour, Body Rock '08, and Prelude '08 champions) and directs Future Shock San Diego(youth troupe to Culture Shock San Diego). Most importantly, Keone hopes to use the talent, that God blessed him with, to help others find their own inspiration, art, craft, and love for what they do. Yay!

MEET MARIEL MARTIN

Thirteen-year old Mariel Martin began dancing against her will at a summer hip hop camp in Boulder, CO. Since the first day of the camp, she has been unable to stop dancing. She has been with a few teams before moving to the Bay Area where she got a little more serious after joining Funkanometry SF. During her four years with Funks she choreographed many pieces for stage and classes and eventually was appointed Co-Artistic Director. She also helped develop the youth team Funksters (which is where her heart will always be) and acted as Co-Artistic Director for three years. She has been lucky enough to travel internationally to teach in Columbia, Norway, Canada, Finland, and Singapore as well as various places in the U.S. like Chicago, Boulder, Las Vegas, New Jersey and all over California. Mariel has no idea how to classify her style, but just likes to think of herself as a person who is in love with music, no matter what genre, and tries to simply interpret her appreciation for it.. She also has fantasies of being a judge on Iron Chef when the secret ingredient is Chilean sea bass.
