This is Chook, our male Superb Lyrebird at Adelaide Zoo. We've had a lot of construction going on lately and Chook has picked up many of the sounds.
You can find out more information on Chook and download free Chook ringtones here: http://tinyurl.com/n42w79 .

We think we can hear the following sounds:
1. Hammer
2. Chainsaw
3. Jack hammer
4. Lawn mower hitting sticks
5. Leaf blower starting
6. Power drill
7. Wood saw
8. Human voices
9. Two-way radio
10.Worker whistling
He makes lots of different bird calls as well. What can you hear?

Let him listen to any Lil Wayne Song, maybe the bird will do it better than him.

First time I heard one out in the bush, it made a perfect R2D2 impersonation. I didn't know what to believe, that star wars is real or that a bird could do that.

If you played a CD of cartoon sound effects or movie quotes, would Chook imitate them? If so, I want a Lyrebird for Christmas!

    Yes.

    I have heard Chook live.

It is even more impressive when one is there.

    He even imitated the echoes!

His "portable drill driving screws into wood" was quite perfect.
