The Saturday morning market in Stockel Square, Brussels, Belgium.
When we lived here from 1993 to 1998 we usually shopped here every Saturday when we were in town. The spectacular array of merchandise and foods is amazing. All the foods products are fresh, and the aroma's of roasting chickens, fresh baked breads, fresh strawberries, gaufres de liège (specialty Belgian waffles), fresh cheese, and fresh fish all wafting in the air is intoxicating. The accordion music playing in the background just adds to the whole sense of joy . All you want to do is eat everything! Of course we followed our noses to the gaufres stand and waited for our sweet treat.. They're made with a yeast dough embedded with little pearls of sugar. Mmmmmmm! Before we left the market we purchased a roasted chicken for our dinner that evening, and of course, askef for some of the 'sauce' (drippings from the chicken). I had wanted to buy some of the potatoes that had been cooking in the chicken drippings, but Pat didn't want them. Oh well.......... (see videos #1, #2 & #4 too)
I can finally use my French... in Brussels awesome! :)
