The paschal mystery of Christ and the hope of our own resurrection is central to Catholic belief.

The final commendation is the most important prayer that the congregation says as we bid farewell on this earth to our departed.

I chose to play this particular version for my mother, which incorporates text of the Subvenite and a line from the book of Job

Come to her aid, O Saints of God, Come meet her angels of the Lord. Receive her soul, O holy ones; Present her now to God Most High.
May Christ who called you, take you home And angels lead you to Abraham. Receive her soul, O holy ones; Present her now to God Most High.
Give her eternal rest, O Lord, May light unending shine on her.Receive her soul, O holy ones; Present her now to God Most High.
I know that my Redeemer lives, The last day I shall rise again.
Receive her soul, O holy ones; Present her now to God Most High

Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis. Requiescat in pace. Amen.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her May she rest in peace. Amen

  • This song was played at the end of my dad's funeral a week ago. It is so beautiful and such a splendid way to send someone off to heaven, knowing we'll be with them again soon. I just love it!

  • @AcetheBob - May your father rest in peace. I'm sure this song will be so much more beautiful when we too arrive in Heaven to hear it sung by our parents and all the other saints there to greet us.

  • I sang this song at my father's funeral over a year ago and used this video to learn it. I still come here often to hear it. It is so beautiful. Thank you for posting it here.

  • @ericaatisso123 - thank you for your warm comments. My videos are nothing elaborate, but God does great work with the smallest of things. I am humbled that you used this video to send your father to Heaven. May he rest in peace with all the saints in Heaven.

  • I find myself listening to this almost daily now, it brings comfort :-)

  • I love the way our Lord begins the burning of our hands long before we serve HIM.... This makes us ready to serve HIM in what ever way He so Wills...

There are no small ways to serve our Lord, Just small minds that fear the Lord won't be with you , if HE asks you to do your part in HIS world- to reach, teach, care, love, share, hold up, repair, smile with all of God's Children, of all ages. . Thank You Mother Teresa ..You taught us to be humble yet bold with the calling of God. Philillie

  • What a beautiful send off. May her memory be eternal.
