In this hands-on workshop, Googlers Mano Marks and Pamela Fox show how to use tools within Google Maps, Google Earth, and Google Spreadsheets to create, import, and edit KML. They also show a quick integration of KML in the Maps API, and briefly mention geo search and indexing. This talk is useful for developers who haven't had a chance to play with the Maps or Earth creation tools yet, and are looking for quick ways to create and share geo-data.

I keep wishing I could edit this with some fades to condence the important info. I could be shortened by 15 minutes easy.

This was a good starting point for kml, spreadsheet mapper tool, etc. but why do my custom placemarks not display when I save my kml as a static version of the dynamic spreadsheet

Valuable tutorial, though overly chatty and poorly produced. In the 'spreadsheet' section, the screens are illegible and the commentary from the audience, which guides the speaker, is inaudible to the rest of us. As an end-user, I found the "we're super-cool" theme depressing. Can you try a different format from the seminar setting-maybe a captioned flv with examples that are visible? Griping aside, this is the tutorial that got me started with KML.
