Another great song by the English band Forefather.

Lyrics:
Miri it is while summer ilast
With fugheles song
Oc nu neheth windes Blast
And weder strong
Ei, Ei! What this night is long!
And ich with wel michel wrong
Soregh and murn and fast*
Miri it is 'tween dark and dark
This fleeting stage
'Till we return back to the night
From whence we came
And henceforth our spears take aim
Hope to win eternal fame
Hear our names e'er more

(Thanks to bub for this part) Translates as:

Merry it is, while summer lasts with birds' song...
But then comes the blasting wind & strong weather...
Aye aye, but this night is long!
And I, having been greatly wronged, sorrow & mourn & fast.

  • @VerginixAbbyAirsoft cradle are pretty good! so are anaal nathrakh, iron maiden, bal sagoth, forfather, akercocke. the fact is, there's so many great british bands that it's impossible to decide who's best

  • One of my favourite bands/songs ever! I hope we'll see the new album from Forefather soon.

  • @DeRmItDeNsPiNeNtAnZt No mate - neither band wrote the melody.

Both versions are good - very good in fact - but neither can claim to have written it.

  • Are these guys singing in, ye old english??

  • Good song - i think the Anglo Saxon in this song is recent Saxon sort of close to middle English

  • To bad there are no college courses on Old English/Middle English. This language is enthralling!

Great folk song and a great folk metal band.
