Welcome to Northern Michigan Adaptive Sports And Recreation, where all athletes of all ages, interests, and abilities work together with volunteers to make their dreams come true.

Boundaries are broken in our adaptive downhill skiing and snowboard program. From beginner to expert, skiers are carefully fitted with specialized equipment to maximize safety and fun. Each skier has an instructor and several buddy volunteers. Ages 5 to 99 are welcome to join us on the slopes.

Dog sled rides began as a children's event but have quickly become a family favorite. Participants enjoy a winter evening sled-ride through the woods of northern Michigan provided by experienced mushers and their dog teams.

Come score a goal and skate on the sheet of ice used during training camp by the Stanley Cup champions, the Detroit Red Wings. Whether you sit or stand, indoor ice hockey is a fun winter event.

Climbing to new heights, the participants rise into the tree tops for a fun-filled, high adventure. Equipment is adapted for each athlete to insure safety, security, and the thrill of independence.

Hand cycling is a great activity for those who are not able to use a conventional bike, but still enjoy the opportunity to cycle.

Kayaking is available to persons twelve years or older after they have participated in the required pool training. Kayaks, paddles, and life jackets are provided to all participants. Open-water paddling takes place in the evening three times during the summer on a variety of local lakes. Each participant is assigned a paddle buddy and one to two support volunteers for their evening of adventure.

The youth horseback riding program meets several times over the summer. Each child is supplied the proper safety equipment, three to five volunteers, and a veteran horse to share the experience.

Sailing is one of our recreational activities where fitness is not a factor.

A recreational bowling event is as much about fun and friendship as it is about knocking down pins. Participants, family, and friends of all ages and abilities enjoy this event.

Summer sports day consists of many outdoor activities. Water skiing attracts youth and those young at heart. Adaptations can be made to get just about anyone up on skis.

"Limitations live only in our minds. When we adapt, the possibilities are endless."

Special thanks to our sponsor Munson Medical Center's rehab services and many local businesses. Thanks to all the athletes and volunteers who helped create this movie.

Have a great day!
