Today someone who didn't previously know, discovered I was a Pagan.
I don't mind the questions really and I'm grateful they take the time to ask.
If something intruigues someone then they should ask. It also helps me to shed light on something which is covered in taboo, so it's nice to be able to inform someone of what we're really about.
It just 'tickled' me today that someone asked. It doesn't happen that often really.

  • I'd say I'm mostly out with my foot in the door. I don't mind telling anyone that I'm Wiccan if I'm asked, but I keep relatively quiet around my parents because their reaction is what I care about the most. I don't mind keeping them out of the loop and thinking I'm something else if it helps keep the peace.

  • Yes, It's kinda hard to be honest about things without upsetting those who love you. You have to find a balance and decide which is the best path to take depending on each individuals situation.

Good thoughtful comment - thanks for popping by and leaving it. BB! )O(

  • lol, thanks for that response. *blushes*.

I love your description "In the closet but with the door ajar" That sounds great!

I guess it's been easy for me to be out of the closet because I have always been Pagan although have suffered from negative comments from local fundie Xtians - who even said they would phone the police because they said I was into 'devil worship'! Even so, i know I have it easy because I know I can be more open than some. All those who can't have my thoughts )O(

  • I have half of me peeking out.My parents know, in fact, they bought half of my books and ritual/altar supplies. A few of my closest friends know, and some of them have been interested in either Wicca, which I practice, or other pagan religions for a while, as I found out. I don't like advertising it, I have a pentacle necklace, but the pentacle is very large so I don't usually wear it. I am terrified of telling my boyfriend's family though. They are conservative evangelical Christians.

  • This is a great video... unfortunately I'm still in the broom closet

  • Yeah I do the same...most of my friends know (and are sworn to secrecy) but none of my family does. I don't plan to be like this forever though. Once I get out of the house, and am making it on my own, then I intend to come out fully.

  • I find myself picking and choosing who to tell. I don't tell people at work, but I do tell people outside of work.

I don't think people that I work with would understand what it's all about and it would be too much work to explain it. So i just leave it be.

Outside of work, If someone asked me, I would tell them.

  • im more in than out few people know and most dont i dont like the responces i get when i tell some one that i am wiccan i was given by my ex the altemadum of him or wicca i took wicca, i tryed to explain to him but he refused to listen so yeah like i said im more in than out.

  • I forgot to add, I'm semi out and semi in. If you dont ask, I dont tell ( I learned my lesson when it comes to opening my mouth lol ) However I dont care either. If you dont agree with what I believe, then you dont and thats that. I feel there is no need to argue over it, I usually drop the conversation if its not respected.

  • I agree!! i CANT stand people who try to convert me either, GREAT video as usual.

    BB

  • I am out of the broom closet. I am very much an opened book and because I live in a town in the middle of nowhere so to speak, I am asked nonstop to explain what a Pagan is. Most of the people that live around me have never heard of it. Traveling for my husband's job is nice b/c it enables me to meet so many other Pagans and go to the Pagan Pride festivals. But I will answer any questions anyone asks me, in big part b/c the more people that know what the term means the beetter, in my opinion.
