@hazzhall88 WAY TOO MUCH WORK my friend! All you gotta do is record whatever sample you like through aux or mic input, copy it to each pad, and set the start and end times to chop it up. Much simpler and all done within the SP555.

nice job, like the ending around 2;30, any longer version of the ending?
-
@hazzhall88 ll of those things can be done on the 555.
-
@discospring errrrrrrrrrm, the 555 has a built in sample chopping feature, same as the 404 and the 303 and the 202. the dude doesnt know what he's talking about, or doin?

Yo this is good shit, I love roland products. I have roland gear as well as akai mpcs, and to all the angry akai heads stop hating, roland is the king of hip hop, they started this shit. check out my legacy, EVOL - Acidacide " three classic albums all made with the roland dr 660, MC 50 mkII, and roland DJ 70, recorded onto a tascam 488 MKII.

i rocks with mpc 2000xl but you working it out with that sp 555...good ish homie

@hazzhall88 (sry posted when i was not finished writing) is it not just hooking it up with rca and the record? if im not misstaking that was the case with the 303 wich is again very simular.

@hazzhall88 well this is not what ive heard from users of the 404 and thats basiclly the same hardware only smaller :S

Nice!!!
could you expand on what makes an mpc better for this kind of beat making?
discospring 1 year ago 2
@discospring Sure, the reason the mpc is better for this type of beat making specifically is because mailny it has a built in sample chopping feature which means you can connect a turntable, ipod or whatever into the input, record the sample you want then chop it however you like and automatically spread it accross the pads. However the process for me to get the samples on there was (need another comment box)

@discospring load song into logic, cut up individual samples manually as i wanted them to be on the pad, export from logic as wavs, plug in sd card from sp-555, use rolands editing software to assign each sample to a pad, put sd card back in 555 and start playing with the, which you can see is very tedious! Basically mpc is a hip hop beat making machine which is what i would class these beats as, it would not be suited for live performance, effect tweaking, or really much other than hip hop

yo!wtf!why do these companys do this to us???i really really eally cant fucking figure out whats better mpcs or goddam roland samplers man!!
cstylewit1 1 year ago
@cstylewit1 Well to be honest for this kind of beat making an mpc is 20x better. This sampler is kinda more aimed at live performance but if you were going to take live performance seriously i would recommend ableton or something similar. The sp-555 is really fun to use and play around on and can be serious, just depends what you wanna do with it! Feel free to ask about any features or anything if youre looking at buying them or anything
