The designer's comments to the last Tomb Raider Anniversary level called Lost Conflict (called The Great Pyramid in the original Tomb Raider 1). They discuss about the Torso boss and how they feel about the game's ending.

  • One thing bother me. Tony says so much about not placing magic in TR1. And what we've got in Anniversary? All the Atlantis hi-tech changed into some crazy mumbo-jumbo. That's the thing I couldn't stand playing Anniversary - lack of those marvellous cutscen with inprisoning Natla in criogenic capsule. Just some ice-crystal-thing... That was huge disappointment

  • Thanks for sharing your story!

The designer's comments are an extra unlockable feature in Tomb Raider Anniversary. I'll explain more to that on your channel a little later on.

As for TR1 and its remake, some people just love it and some don't. I guess that if you started out with TR1, you'll find the remake to be exaggerating, things falling out of proportion.

Thank you for your comment, happy raiding, happy Christmas! :)

  • Not exactly what I think about TRA - it was great with all those gameplay changes [especially Natla's Mines - from hate to lova I could say] but even if story in TR1 was merely told it was WAY better. And TR1 intention wasn't creating such $#!t like Underworld...

And to sum up - thanks for explanations in my channel, happy Christmas with your family and crazy New Year's Eve party

  • Oh, I see. :)

Well, thanks. I hope you'll have a crazy New Year as well. =P

  • Strange as it may sound, for me the TR1 torso monster was and is scarier than the TRA one. It's smaller and crappily rendered, but somehow it's much creepier.

I think that's what Crystal Dynamics didn't really understand generally; scaling everything up wasn't always needed. It created a much more epic feel, but TR1 used level design to evoke more feelings than one of vastness - claustrophobia, for example. Not to mention that at times during TRA it just looked like Lara had shrunk.

  • After Valve included the developer's commentary in Half Life 2 I thought many more would follow their example. I can't understand why this didn't happen, because it's a very cheap and effective way of making the user appreciate every little detail of the game and the efforts of the people behind it, and connect with him on a more personal level.

  • 1:04 They're called "wings"... USE THEM!!!!!!!!

  • I really do wish that they would reimagine Tomb Raider II as they did number 1 for Anniversary.

The original story could take place right after Underworld and Lara could try to make up for nearly bringing the world to Ragnarok.

  • I'm wondering why they weren't able to show the rib cage for the mutant boss (like in TR1) in TRA? Was it because of ESRBs limitations? I know they had to take out the sequence of being impaled by spikes or the rating would've been brought up to mature instead of teen.

  • when i was little and playing the 1st TR the torso monster was called Atlanan Boss... i wounder whats it called now?

  • that's for xbox360
