  • @hempev hello. i was wondering do you ever use chinese nunchaku? (the chain or string is usually twice as long as your palm) i was just wondering if you ever trained with them?

  • @gesaemk No, never - not as well controlled for strikes, useless in chokes, noisy, heavy, and just plain different in performance.

  • Dear sir,

i need a advice from you...i have seen your videos of the nunchaku and the bo, and i repeat watching them several times, i train with the nunchaku and bo almost every day but I don't fell that i make any progres or even i can hold on in fight. please advice, i was been told to get expert help but i couldn't afford to get myself in a such kind of gym. i was from my youth interested in martial arts

should i continue or give up?

  • @Alberto26982 I wouldn't say I am very good at this either, and I've been doing it for 7 years, so I'd say just keep practicing.

  • thank you for sharing your knowledge with us my teacher is so wrong in his teaching

  • @sgunness1 It does no good to consider someone's teaching wrong, but sometimes you have to glean what is useful and what is based on assumption - that separates great sensei from hacks.

  • Mr Hempev.

I would like to thank and congratulate you for your dedication and generosity in sharing your Okinawan Kobudo videos. This sensei seems in my humble opinion to show true traditional skill and is kind enough to show his wealth of knowledge. His style and execution seems genuine beyond doubt, and I can't thank you enough for your posts. I wish I could find DVD versions of all of his material. I really dont fancy buying a video player just for these tapes. However I may consider it

  • sorry to say this but you're totally wrong. practicing with foamies develops bad habits. you can't really feel if you bounced it off your body properly and when you switch to wooden nunchaku, you'll hurt yourself. with wooden one it's easy to tell, cause it hurts if you do something wrong. and don't worry too much, I trained with a wooden one from the beginning and I never hurt myself too bad. it's all about knowing you abilities. swing really slow and gradually increase the speed as you learn.

  • It's not really about obtaining a specific level of training. It's more about the journey you take, not the destination. If you like martial arts, don't give up on them, just have fun. Don't worry or even try to see if you have gotten better, obviously it feels good when you see you're better, but the most important part is you keep trying and have fun doing what you love to do. Martial arts is only interesting to certain people, people like us. Do not give it up! Keep training!
