animated monotone stereogram holograms in Japan. HODIC meeting Feb.29/2008. These holograms were made in the 70s and early 80s
Thank you doceigen for the additional information. Your comment is one of the last but found it valuable (don't know the details, but perhaps this particular project was a collaboration):

This is pure AMERICAN technology, invented by Lloyd Cross in the early 70's and then improved by him to become white light (a light bulb below the turntable of the holographic drum) playable using Stephen Benton's invention of a 'Rainbow Hologram'. Google both Lloyd Cross and Stephen Benton... the information is very interesting, you'll like it. Oh, its called an 'Integral Hologram' as each view is compressed on to the film drum through a 1mm slit... each eye sees a different view as it turns.

  • XD i love the top comments

  • @roboconker That's old technology too, in the 70's-80's, several groups did those 'in air' displays, but then as now... the power of the lasers is so high, that if anyone stands in that hologram you gave us the link for, they will get seriously injured! Nope, after working with holography at the state of art level for the last 36 years, I know that holographic 'projectors', will have to be worn, and their 'energies', impinged either direct retinal, or direct neural, or... be 'wetwired'.

  • @doceigen yeah this is old technology, but this is really a hologram: /watch?v=KfVS-npfVuY&feature=related
