I was a huge Sherlock Holmes fan before i watched the series, and i have to say, i absolutely love it. Of course though, Doctor Who will always be my first choice, since I've liked it for a long time.

The last episodes of the 6th session of Doctor Who and 2nd session of Sherlock have the same light-motive: Sherlock and the Doctor have become too big for their own good. They need to disappear and leave their companions in the dark, thinking they're dead. It's a bit more emotional in Sherlock, where John doesn't find out he's alive. Of course there are few similarities about the shows, but that only makes them more awesome.
