Excerpt from Session 5 of the Learning Societies Conference held in Tehran, Iran, in September 2007. The conference brought together a diverse group of learning activists from India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Mexico and other places, who were joined by their Iranian counterparts, for several days of discussions and demonstrations of approaches to learning beyond the institutionalized life. Mohammad Reza Haeri of Iran speaks about the difference between construction and architecture and the relationship of architecture with music. Manish Jain of Shikshantar in India comments on the globalization of construction as a problem of culture and schooling, while K.B. Jinan of India and Munir Fasheh of Palestine offer further commentary on music and art. In English and Farsi.
