This is a compilation of some video I recorded of the Chromoton 14 video synthesizer a few years ago. This strange device was built in the late 1970s and produces all kinds of coloured patterns and can even process live video. (although I didn't have anything attached for this demo) It appeared that all circuitry inside the unit was made from logic ICs and discrete transistors.

The music used as the sound track is from the album Infinite Depth of Field by my friend jason m norwood.

I was lent the unit for a short time and asked to make a few repairs to it. The owner suggested I play around with it and record the results! Wish I'd had more time to explore it further... certainly a unique device!

  • Awesome, where did you find this unit?
