  • Log homes are indeed built to last. From the cozy interiors to providing the owner durable home for a lifetime, log homes can compete with other modern style houses.

  • @KesslersCross . We did not start manufacturing until 15 or 16 years ago; although we are one of the largest in log company's in America now. So we did not build log homes in the 1800's. Congratulations on your "kit" purchase. Best wishes as you build it yourself. That is rare these days. Bob

  • @lepaka1 Really? I didnt know anyone from the old days built massive loghomes, Ill have to look stuff up on that, Id like to see how they designed them. I just bought a kit here in WV. Its VERY small though compared to what most are now. Did your company build these??

  • @KesslersCross - Ah, indeed you are correct! that's why we manufacturer over 75 different log styles and some are certainly rustic. However, with every log style ---rustic or upscale---you need energy efficiency and minimal maintenance and modern HVAC. You are right about the settlers in America although you'd be surprised to know that the early Scandinavian settlers built some large and sophisticated log homes. It was the pioneers out West who just slapped logs together.

  • a little to modern for me. I think there all beautiful but to me a log home should be rustic...though I know thats not everyones thing. I just think that if you make them all modern then you take away from the appeal. I mean come on, who had a 40 ka jillian sq foot log cabin when we settled in america?

  • @krcsrc maybe you will be buried face down in one troll!

  • @diyLogHomes Yes. the garage/barn is log sided. It is much more practical and less expensive when energy efficiency and interior finish is not an issue.

  • Nice log house design. Is the garage log sided?

  • how much?
