This is actually the very first Final Fantasy IX AMV I ever made, though I really, really love the game. But when I first heard this incredibly beautiful song, Hometown Glory, I instantly thought of making a tribute for Final Fantasy IX. After all, finding one's home is the overall theme for the game.
I just wanted to create a simple and sad video. Garnet feels kinda lost in her hometown Alexandria, because she has those memories of fleeing from her true home and its destruction. She wants to know where she's coming from and being a princess, she feels like a bird in a cage. Then she meets Zidane, and he promises to run away with her. They try to escape, but their ship is being attacked. Still, they manage to get away.
They have some happy days, together with their friends Vivi, Steiner and Eiko. Finally, Garnet can fly with her airship, and she feels as free as she always wanted to be. But then, Kuja and his dragon Bahamut attack Alexandria. Garnet and the others hurry back, and she realizes that the city that has become her home is once again destroyed in front of her eyes.
But this time, she's not alone. Her friends fight with her, Vivi attacks Bahamut with his spell and together with Eiko, Garnet summons Alexander. Still, the enemies are too powerful for them. Garnet jumps into Zidanes arms, seconds before Alexandria is completely destroyed. But Zidane and Garnet meet again on the other side. Even after death, they're still together and so they can find a home in each other.
It was really difficult making the timing for the video, because Sony Vegas was getting so slow. But I think the most important thing about this videos are the emotions, anyway. Somehow, watching it always brings tears to my eyes. If I can touch some of you a little, too, I'm glad. ^_^
