The whole cube is controlled by an Arduino, using 3 wires to send data to a bank of 4 shift registers.

  • I currently have the cube build but I don't know how to use the shift registers, if you could explain to me how to use the shift registers or, just point me in the right direction. That would be great.

  • Awesome work - the cube looks great!

Am about to start a similar project - the way he would have connected up the shift registers is well explained on the arduino website here: arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/ShiftOut

  • hey, i got my cube all put together but have not clue how to hook it up to my arduino Duemilanove. Any ideas?

  • Hello, this is great work. you say that you are using three wires to send data to the "bank of 4 shift registers." now when you say this, do you mean that you send data to one shift register, that sends it to the other three to control the leds? if this is not correct could you go into detail on what you mean?

  • Excellent work. Fantastic! It may interest you to know that because ThinkGeek is now selling a 4x4x4 multicolor cube similar to this, they've embedded a video of it on their website. The top suggested related video is this one (at least on my system/account)
