Performing at City Stages 2008 - Birmingham, AL at Linn Park. Saturday @ 8:15 p.m. on the Coca-Cola Stage. Video by PRAYZEHYMNOnline.com.

Song: "Lay It Down" - The steamy slow jam & title cut from Green's highly-anticipated Blue Note project; Lay It Down. He breaks the song down and launches into his 1973 hit "Here I Am (Come and Take Me)" (pop #10, R&B #2). He wanted to leap into the cool ballad, "Stay With Me," from his new project but the band didn't know the song. This all proves Green is one of the ultimate song singers around and ultimately points out Green's ability to make a show feel so organic and authentic.

City Stages is an annual three-day, world-class music festival held in downtown Birmingham, Alabama in and around Linn Park. AC Entertainment, co-producers of the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, helped produced this year's festivites. 2008's explosive line-up featured Diana Ross, Buddy Guy, the Roots, Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals, Anthony Hamilton, Al Green, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, the Flaming Lips, Ledisi, Israel & New Breed, Sean Kingston, the Wailers and Galatic. • Yeah...it was a blast for Green. It screamed all the way up the Billboard Top 200. I'm proud of him..it's his bigges hit album since the Hi Records' releases in the '70s. And the new album sounds so much like the ol' stuff.

  • I've uploaded several tracks from this AWESOME album. It's so nice to see his classic sound getting the recognition it so richly deserves. I think that it peaked at #9 on Billboard's Top 200 Album Chart.

  • His live version sounds just as goood, if not better than the studio version.
