Albatros DVa.
This plane started out as an ARF from Cedar Hobbies. It was overweight, and just was poorly designed. I crashed it, and decided to re-build it. EVERYTHING is new, 100% scratch built, except for about a 3 inch section where the cabanes attach. The landing gear is carbon fiber tube. The wheels are light plastic spoked with paper covers over them. The wings were made from electronic plans I got from Peter Rake, and a friend used his lazer cutter to punch out the pieces. The whole fuse was rebuilt aft of the cabanes, with balsa instead of plywood. The nose, forward of the cabanes was re-built when I first got it. The tail group is symetrical airfoil, not flat like most ARF's. The tail skid is functional like the real plane, with bungy cord, as are the wheels. The whole plane is covered in silkspan and Butyrate Dope. The Lozenge pattern on the wings was done with a printer.
This plane originally was 17.5oz without the battery. It's now 14oz. Much better flying, and much longer flight times are nice.
The motor is an Atlas 2312/32. Prop (for now) is an APC Slowflyer 9x6.
Not really the greatest video, it's the best my camera and my 9yo could do.
Hope you enjoy.
