Sorry, two more things: Buy it at Radioshack if you want to try it for 30 days. No, shipping cost, no bad customer service, and guaranteed to accept the return. MJ is known for flaking on this. Radio Shack can't give you back the $20 yearly fee though.
*They auto bill your credit card if you don't hunt very carefully though your settings and disable it. This is new, and they didn't notify anyone. They make it a pain to change too, so logout and log back in to verify the setting sticks.

...That's my rant below. Had to get it out of my system. Sorry for the long post. I do appreciate that MJ introduced me to the world of Voip. But I don't appreciate their quality or forceful way of doing business.

*No calls to toll free 800 numbers.
There are better services out there. I now use my own hardware (a Bluetooth headset-$12, with a Bluetooth PC adapter-$6, and X-lite or Zoiper -- free.) Sipgate has great service for 2cents/min and free incoming calls. Free calls to 800 numbers too.
Oh! And it works on your Android, iPhone or Symbian too, but you may have to modify them (i.e. jailbreak, root, or flash CFW.) I have personally had great success with a Symbian and Android.

*No way to use your account with any other software or equipment. They go out of their way to make sure! There have been hacks, but MJ always disables them.
*The software is from 1956.
*If they're not going to bother with quality why don't they let us use our own software or hardware?
*Eventually it just stops working. They fix it for you, and then force-update your system again, breaking it. Many people experience this after 2 years of use (+ or -). Coincidence???....

*They change things on you all the time, without notice, and constantly break your setup, or lose your contacts.
*If your computer is not freshly booted, or it is doing anything else the calls will be jumpy and almost impossible for the other person to hear. Realistically, you need a second computer, and a dedicated network.
*Chat support only, and not knowledgeable. You're on your own.
*Bully-software that forces updates, interrupts movies and games, and has no configurations.

I used it for a 1-1/2 yrs as well. There are two good things about M.J., and only two: it's cheap and you can use almost any old school, land line phone with it.
The bad:
*No way to import, export or backup your contacts. It's all server based and they are known for losing them. Get a phone with a large memory for call history. There is also an Outlook plugin for dial outs only, no syncing, if it still works.... continued...

Thanks for the review, I've heard of the Magic Jack but didn't really understand it. So, I can cancel my phone service and use the Magic Jack as my home phone service?
Yes you can I uploaded a full review this was just the last half of it that I upload by accident but I would try the free offer first and make sure your happy with it first. I was and its been great for me l have two of them.
