@abret69 Some first-hand experience: A modern teacher anywhere outside of public school (private, if you're American), is paid to be a policeman and a propagandist. But teachers are trained to be teachers - to teach things that are actually relevant and interesting to their students. If only teachers were trained in killing minds rather than widening them, and if only students were taught how to live like fucking rats instead of people, this world would suddenly make sense.

My High School was almost exactly like this. I wanted to learn, but it was very difficult with so many distractions.

It's absolutely scary how on point The Wire is in depicting the absurdity that is teaching in an inner city school. Teaching to the damn standardized test and finding out your students still don't know jack is just crazy, but principals actually want teachers to do this. Craziness...
