Quality poor. My favourite live band in mclaughlins career after mahavishnu 1+2 is the one truth band. Saw them at the Rainbow-London in 1979 and they took the roof off. Main feature here is a keyboard solo by the brilliant (and often underrated) Stu Goldberg.
J.Mclaughlin
L.Shankar
Stu Goldberg
Fernando Saunders
Tony Smith

  • Saw them on tour in East Lansing Mi ( 78 or 79) before a small crowd and it was absolutely phenomenal. even though the crowd was small everyone gave 110%, the band, particularly Shanker and john were super inspired all night and it was one of the top 5 ever saw!! went expecting a very good concert and was stunned by how far above my expectation it was.

  • Yeah

  • Definitely one of the best of McLaughlin's band formations. Fantastic.

    Thank you for posting.

  • Great!

  • Yeah, I can see all of you didn't get here by accident... This is just amazing, thank you so much, bazonics. "Electric Dreams" is one of my all-time fusion favourites, wonderful line-up - praise for Fernando Saunders. Simply great.

  • As well as the 1979 show , which has Fernando Saunders and Tony Smith , that concert website also 2 1978 One Truth Band shows , with the 1st lineup of TM Stevens on Bass and Sonship on drums

  • UPDATE , That website now has 3 or 4 One Truth Band concerts , including one from Palais Theatre (wrongly listed as "Palms theatre") St Kilda Melbourne 1979 .

  • On the website JAZZFUSION(dot)TV among the AUDIO BOOTLEG list there is 1979 concert with John , Billy Cobham , Stu Goldberg , Jack Bruce . They play a number of songs that were on the One Truth Band album "Electric dreams ". Sound quality is good.

  • Thanx bazonics, I was maybe 14 when I saw exactly this concert in German TV, taped it to my recorder and was stunned! What a dense music this band was playing, I think I still like the rhythm group most in this song. I also agree totally with your opinon concerning Stu!

  • Was then and still is one of the greatest guitarists of all time!!! Once again the innovator by having Wechter install a scallopped fretboard on his ES335!
