An exploration into a commonly misunderstood art form; Insides Out delves into the realms of taxidermy and the truth behind its process. Addressing the art of the process not the spectacle of the art, this film gives an overview of the skills, passion and creativity that collectively makes up the ingredients of a taxidermist. The documentary follows a trajectory of taxidermy's history from the Victorian era, to a modern day and contemporary viewpoint, while addressing the up and coming trends of taxidermy within cultural practices. By revealing a behind the scenes peak at the world of taxidermists and their livelihoods, the documentary illustrates mankind's relationship with animals beyond death by celebrating their magnificence through great skill and preservation. The taxidermists themselves have a few words to say, and indeed as viewers will find out, taxidermy is most definitely not about 'stuffing'!

  • this is an awesome documentary. as a taxidermist myself, i find myself being asked the same questions and subject to the same accusations of cruelty. but another thing i asked them is "It isnt cruel that you run over or hit a ground hog or something and let it rot there, but it is cruel that i try to preserve that creature for all to see?" this industry is really misunderstood, and i thank you for making this

  • interesting..... its not cruelty or sick coz the animal is already dead so its away of showing how nice of an animal is it ... when i see these in museums i always wonder how its done .. cool

  • The first question your asked...? AHAHA! Well heres another one, why are you so fucking sick and fucked in the head?
