John Pizzarelli & The Woody Herman Orchestra Rehearsal Part One

This past Wednesday November 19th, I had the greatest pleasure of helping put together one of the greatest concerts in a very long time, in the Toronto area. My father and I, for the charity he works for, brought in John Pizzarelli & The Woody Herman Orchestra. Being privelleged enough to be good friends with John and his quartet, I was able to go directly through him to get him on board :) He was gracious enough to come for a special price. We also got hold of the Herman Orchestra (My fave big band) And they were more than thrilled to help out! 11 of the 17 members originally played with Woody. This night of music was highly successful, and it was one of the greatest days of my life! The thrills came not only from being able to just hang out with all the guys, and attend the rehearsal...but to have been the MC for the evening! I have a ton of stories to tell, but I will save them for another day :) For now I bring you some footage I recorded with my digital cam during the rehearsals. The quality isn't the best in the world, but still enough to bring that enjoyment factor. I hope you do enjoy a look into the dedicated craft these most talanted jazz greats bring to our music. Nice upload! Pizzarelli is terrific and occasionally manages to suggest an echo of Sinatra while performing in his own inimitable style. Tony Bennett's the only other one I can think of who can do that without appearing to imitate.

His jingle for Foxwoods Resort/Casino in Connecticut is one of the GREAT JINGLES OF ALL TIME..I always sing it when someone says Foxwoods.."The Wonder of it All"
