  • I appreciate this land nav series. I am a Marine Sgt and just got the task of teaching land Navigation to Corporals. Being in the Air Wing I am admittedly a lot rusty on land nav. This series brought me back to where I need to be, and now I am comfortable with teaching this material. We are all to reliant on GPS in country nowadays. I guess I am old school. I also think we should initially train with iron sights. The Marine Corps thinks different.

  • @usmceric1

glad i could help brother. now its your turn to go pass it on! all the best man

  • just out of curiosity, is a 10 digit coordinate necessary? like sarge mentioned, accuracy up to 10 meters with 8 digit coordinate is good enough and I presume good enough even in dense jungle. i presume there will be at least some inconsistency with azimuth shooting, pencil plotting on the map etc, wouldn't it be pointless if you're trying to get to 1m accuracy?

  • @vintec84

10 digit grids are great for calling for fire brother lol. other than that....you should be good with 6-8

  • uhm. . . well. . . uhm yeah. hahaha j/k i think i understand. and its def me not the teacher!!!

  • @ryanjd2006 LOL! Hey any questions go ahead and shoot brother. The next one I goofed on so please feel free to ask questions.......on anything!

  • Sgt great tutorial.. I used to teach land nav in PLDC and want to give you an excellent on your 1059!!! Keep up the awesome work.. airborne!!!

  • hey Sarge, thanks for taking the time to share so much info with us. keep an eye on your six

  • That's good stuff. I learned alot aleady.

  • This series of videos deserves a lot more views and credit than they are getting. Anyone that has been watching them can clearly see the amount of time and effort that has gone into making them and keeping them easily understandable to people who have no previous experience with land navigation, such as me.

I've watched the full series and they are very informative and they've helped me a shit load.

Thanks a lot from the UK!

  • i heard somewhere that if you're really good, on a 1:50000 scale map, you could possibly get a 10 digit grid coordinate...is that true?
