This is a video about how I learned how to play by memorizing chords for songs instead of learning theory and then being able to learn enough theory to not memorize chords but understand why I'm playing certain chords in certain places.

  • WOW...that was great bruh. I'm learning theory and it is the way. Stay Blessed my brother!

  • thank you very much, stay blessed

  • Omg I need this video so bad!! I have memorized songs that I played three years ago and I still play them the same way. I don't know hardly any theory and I do feel handicapped by that. If someone wants to sing a song that I know in a different key then they're just out of luck.

  • trust me I know how you feel. .for a whole lotta years I was stuck in the 1 song 1 key feeling.. .and I never used to get calls for gigs or much respect. . .but after I met my guy Lance, he challenged me to name chords and start to learn theory

    Thank you,

  • well what do you do to learn the different chords while justg listening to them.. In other words how can you practice hearing those chords

  • Hey man I am a 15 year old musician. I was wondering if you could make a video with just talk music. Like talk music to play before service.

  • it's all about memory. anything we learn on this planet.

  • Great!

  • Dahv,

could you please break down the song by John P. Key called: "I Won't Let Go!"

  • please break dat trouble dnt last down

  • Theory, are we talking about the one, the two, the three, etc., plus named chords like Sixths, Sevenths, Ninths?

I'm basically self taught. I've learned the theory Major Scales w/ Triads. I can play basic songs w/ Triads or 4 fingered chords in every key.

I'm trying to get out of the basic triad chords. I usually just double the bass keys with the left hand. I'm tying to learn when to play in Minor or Major. As far as chords go, I try to create some. I'm hoping to get a better sound.
