Avlos is a Greek renaissance consort that specializes in European music of the 13th to early 17th centuries.
Its members have been actively researching renaissance music performance styles for 15 years.
They have also been engaged in the study of how renaissance instruments-particularly woodwind- were made and performed upon.

Avlos consort owns a notable collection of woodwind, string, and other instruments, all faithful copies of renaissance originals that were on display in several museums, and has a significant library of scores of that period.

Its aim is to make renaissance music more familiar to the general public through concerts, recitals, and other events.

Το σύνολο αναγεννησιακής μουσικής "αυλός" ασχολείται αποκλειστικά με την εκτέλεση μουσικών έργων από την Ευρώπη του 13ου έως και 17ου αιώνα. Τα μέλη του για περισσότερο από 15 χρόνια ασχολούνται με την έρευνα σχετικά με την ερμηνεία της μουσικής αυτής της περιόδου. Επίσης μελετούν τα μουσικά όργανα που χρησιμοποιούντο την εποχή αυτή , ιδιαίτερα τα πνευστά, ως προς τον τρόπο κατασκευής τους και την εκτέλεσή τους.

Το σύνολο "αυλός" διαθέτει μία αξιόλογη συλλογή πνευστών, εγχόρδων και κρουστών οργάνων, που είναι πιστά αντίγραφα οργάνων της αναγέννησης που εκτίθενται σε διάφορα μουσεία, καθώς και ένα σημαντικό αριθμό από παρτιτούρες έργων αυτής της περιόδου.

Στόχος του είναι η διάδοση της σχετικά άγνωστης στην Ελλάδα μουσικής αυτής και η επικοινωνία με το ευρύ κοινό μέσω συναυλιών και άλλων μουσικών δρωμένων. Παρά τη μεγάλη χρονική απόσταση από τη σύγχρονη εποχή , η μουσική αυτή λόγω της διαχρονικής δομής της μπορεί να έχει απήχηση στο σημερινό άνθρωπο και να συμβάλει στην προαγωγή του Πολιτισμού.

Το σύνολο "αυλός" έχει δώσει αρκετές συναυλίες, έχει συνεργαστεί με το Τρίτο Πρόγραμμα της Ελληνικής Ραδιοφωνίας και έχει συμμετάσχει σε θεατρικές παραστάσεις έργων της εποχής της αναγέννησης.

Johann Hermann Schein was born within a year of both Heinrich Schütz and Samuel Scheidt. Together, these three composers forged a new identity for German music during the early Baroque period, combining the traditional Germanic emphasis on contrapuntal setting of Lutheran chorales with modern stylistic innovations from Italy. In addition to his activities as a composer and poet, Schein is remembered as one of J.S. Bach's predecessors as Kantor of St. Thomas in Leipzig.

Johann Hermann Schein (1586 1630) was a German composer of the early Baroque era. He was born in Grünhain and died in Leipzig. He was one of the first to import the early Italian stylistic innovations into German music, and was one of the most polished composers of the period.
