  • Almost everyone if not everyone in Belize understands English and a large percentage speak English too because it used to be a British colony. But diferent communities in Belize has their own unique language which include: spanish,Mopan mayan,Ketchi Mayan, Creole(Kriol) Garifuna etc. im glad that he's proud of his language and im proud i can speak Ket'chi too.

  • Wow, Mayans can speak english in Belize because it's a British commonwealth.

  • Also, 10 to 16 thousands years ago Asians as we know them today could have different appearance. The roots of Mayan language could also be found in Asian languages at that time period. However, I do no think such materials exist, since written language could have appeared later.

  • I think to resurrect Mayan language, such people like this young man should work together with scientists, who deciphers ancient Mayan texts. That way they will be able together to seethe away the Spanish admixture, and reincarnate Mayan language.

  • dude, you are cute! :)

  • @mrurbina

Lol, you know that is not surprising. I once read a book documenting the daily lives of these people in the mountains. They speak their respective Mayan languages as well as German. Germans and Jews settled in those areas and speak Mayan languages as well.

  • @Chichiri520

The english part doesn't suprise me because In Amatitlan,Guatemala you hear them speaking to the euro tourists in german and english but what took me by surprise was the accent because it reminds me of a west-indies accent.lol

  • @mrurbina

Me too. Im like OMG a Mayan descent speaking fluent English, then I realized "Oh yeah, Belize was a British colony"

  • First mayan decendent that I hear speaking english like the west indians lol. I'm from Guatemala a neighbor of Belize and it's cool that mayan Is still being taught in other mayan inhabited countries. Even though pure mayans are basically extinct but it's awesome to see the younger generation still being taught their roots.

  • damn, he's cute!

  • i think itd be cooler if all the hispanics could just relearn their original heritage languages before teh spanish and just forget spanish overall......i mean im part spanish, im proud, and i like the language, but seriously......this culture that hs been for thousands of years is new to me....something wrong with that.

  • No way dude you are 100% wrong my friend no disrespect. I am Aztec and know my roots don't try lecture me.

Many look Asian because afterall we are all HUMAN RACE even some my cousin look African, but Africa never mingled with Aztec.

Also it could be because of intercultural mixing and because many Asian immigrants went to Mexico to escape American discrimination in the 20th Century
