This is just my second project in Mudbox. I thought a realistic Mr Fredrickson from UP would be pretty funny to model so low and behold. This was modeled in Mudbox and imported into 3ds max for the hair and final video.

  • Ha thanks guys.. Yea this was actually one of the first mudbox sculpts I created.. It has a few imperfections :P

  • its robert deniro in 20 years..

  • @IAOfilms ha.. it's robert deniro now

  • hey there, you got a very awesome work here! :D I am new in mudbox, i wanna ask something, if I paint my model in mudbox, how can I export the object and also all the paint layer to 3ds max as uv map? thx a lot! :D

  • @TaraArtsMovie Thanks! Well, first you have to make sure the model has been uv unwrapped. That way, the paint has its coordinates. The default mudbox sculpts should have them already. Once things are ready to export, it should be as simple as right clicking the paint layers and exporting them to photoshop, where you can save it in whatever format you'd like. But exporting the object and the paint layers are different steps. Good luck!

  • I'm new to Mudbox and it's capabilities with 3ds max... I made a model with a high amount of faces (I don't recall what level I went up to, but if I remember I had over 200,000 faces). After I made the model in mudbox, I got an Fbx plugin and exported it as an fbx file and then opened it 3ds max... I then wanted to add hair, but I get a message about it's polygons and then 3ds max goes unresponsive... how do you make your model work with the hair and fur function?

  • @angelofkils101

You can also actually export your model from mudbox without a plugin. You would select the model from the opjects list on the right and then head to file> export selection. You can export as FBX or I like to use OBJ
