Well I can also say that the Canada Cup wins for Canada did not mean shit since it was a biased home tournament and the USSR did not always send its best players there.

Pros always played in international tournaments, just not always from the NHL. But when NHL players were allowed in the World Championships after 1976, this did not affect the Soviets winning almost every year.

Also Canadian teams were known for dirty play and diving, so I don't know what you are talking about...

The WC take place during the NHL playoffs meaning very few of our best could take part. That's a very weak argument. As far as diving goes the Russians perfected the art. @SuperStrik9 well still russia was the best several times before, then canada & usa, but now days take a look at us in europe. how many gold medals have russia,czechia,sweden,finland won under the 2000 and before you say canada olympics in vancouver, check the team differencials in salarys etc Czechs and swedes dont line up with 120% superstars from Nhl and still grab medals almost every time
