Down on 107th ave near Indian School Rd on the west valley I noticed something RARE in the Phoenix, AZ area.

RoofTop Heat Pumps installed per code!

These units had level catwalks errected along side them so a service tech could have a save place to stand on when servicing these rooftop units.

The original set up appears to be from the late 70's or early 80's.

This is actually a code requirement when installing rooftop equipment on pitched rooftops. You find this in other areas of the country EXCEPT for Arizona!

This is the ONLY place in this area that I have seen these being used. I've seen them in California though.
But they probably enforce codes a little better over there. The LOOSER builders, architects, etc from California usually come to Arizona where their ignorance is bliss! Looks like we had ONE EXCEPTION with whoever designed these units once apon a time...

  • who cares does your red neck ass live there no you prolly grew up in a trailer park like all white trash if i was drivin by at the time of the recordin i would of threw a rock at you hahaha

  • @goonsquadebitch

    Wow, troll alert!

BTW. You wouldn't say redneck if you saw me, but being called a redneck isn't an insult.

A redneck can take care of himself. Live off of the land. Use his imagination to fix things.

Not something you can say about the modern pants sagging, cRap listening to, effeminate boys making up the new generation today!

Why are you even here looking at HVAC videos? Drive by troll by any chance?

  • You seem to be getting closer to where I grew up. W. 83rd and Thomas Rd.

8235 W. Catalina Dr. to be exact.

  • You remember the adress? Nice! I bet things look a little different out here now if you came back for a visit. :)

  • I suspect those rooftop units are replacing a swamp cooler from many years ago. Those were usually on the roof. You need to send that contractor a Thank You note for those catwalks, LOL.

  • Some new homes still come with rooftop heat pump units around here. But it is thought that the past popularity of evap coolers is what started the trend here. Most new homes have ground condensers but the air handlers are in nasty attics!

  • Magic Touch did the new ones! Not the goodman ad gotell.

  • I wouldnt work on them units for $100 a hour.

  • Cool! Sounds like a good idea.

  • Well, if you do you should let me know. Maybe get the gangs to hook up at a bowling alley, pool hall, or soemthing. :)

  • My brothers and sisters all met in Phoenix two years ago to bring our father's remains to rest. The old neighborhood looked pretty much the same with different people. Although there were still a few old friends left in the area. The surrounding area used to be cotton and onion fields. Now, it's just a bunch more houses and stores. My nephew goes to ASU. I might go visit him one of these days soon.
